What Is the Order of the Eastern Star?

The Order of the Eastern Star (OES)

is a worldwide fraternal organization of women and men dedicated to making a positive difference in their communities.

We work together in a spirit of fraternal love, fellowship, and service, providing opportunities to give our time and talents to projects that benefit individuals, families, and entire communities — all while building friendships and having fun.

Crescent Chapter No 45 is the local chapter located in Pittsfield, NH. We meet on the first Thursday of the month at 7:30pm, excluding January and February.

Our Purpose

Eastern Star was founded to bring together people who value service, integrity, and compassion.
Our members share a commitment to helping others while strengthening their own personal values.

Who We Are

  •  A worldwide organization with over 5,000 Chapters
  • Women and men of all faiths
  • Family-oriented and community-focused
  • Closely connected with the Masonic family

What We Do

Charity and service have been the foundation of Eastern Star for more than 160 years.

We support charities through both financial donations and hands-on service, working locally and globally — including disaster relief when needed.

Examples from New Hampshire include:

  • Community projects
  • Blood drives
  • Veterans’ initiatives
  • Cancer research
  • Educational scholarships
  • Support for Shriners Hospitals & Scottish Rite Learning Centers

We Are Family

Together with our Masonic Brothers, we form a family built on shared values.

Members become lifelong friends who support one another in good times and bad — not just within meetings, but throughout life.

We also support youth organizations such as:

  • International Order of the Rainbow for Girls
  • Job’s Daughters
  • DeMolay International

What We Are — and What We Are Not

We are:

  • Guided by spiritual and moral values
  • Committed to integrity, loyalty, faith, and service

We are not:

  • A religious organization (people of all faiths are welcome)
  • A secret organization (meetings are private, many events are public)
